Mike Oliva knows that if music comes from a personal place, it will resonate with others.

He’s tackled some tough issues, such as writing about his dad, who died by suicide in front of him and his mother.

“With music, I become an extrovert, which is completely opposite of how I am off stage,” he says. “I’ve been through a lot of personal stuff, and it’s a way for me to cope with it.”

Originally from Lansing, Michigan, Oliva has called Albuquerque home for years. He got interested in music as a teenager and has worked hard at growing his skills.

Now 28, Oliva is still making waves in the music industry – in and out of New Mexico.

Oliva performs under the stage name M.O. Music.

It’s been a year since he released the album, “M.O.tivation 2,” yet he continues to work on new material.

He released the video for the single “Summer Jam” on Aug. 14.

In the past year, Oliva’s life has changed, and during the pandemic, he’s still been able to move forward.

Here are five things you probably didn’t know about Oliva:

1 My song ” Amazin’ ” featuring Bubba Sparxxx was recorded at Aeros Independent-Studio in Albuquerque.

2 I’ve worked with three mainstream artists this year – “Thumbin’ Thru Tha Money” featuring Bezz Believe, “Amazin’ ” featuring Bubba Sparxxx and “Lately” featuring Tuki Carter.

3 I have over 100,000 total streams on Spotify.

4 I’ve done music videos in four states in the past two years.

5 I also feature behind-the-scenes vlogs for my fans to get to know me on a personal level on my YouTube channel, M.O.Music Official.
