Sports Speak Up! Maybe UNM can squeeze some gift money out of Bezos’ ex-wife

JEFF BEZOS recently testified before Congress and spoke about his early upbringing in Albuquerque. Unfortunately, he’s taken his $180 billion net worth and put his hometown in the rear view mirror. However, his ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott is doing philanthropic work by thus far giving away a reported $1.7 billion to 116 entities, including $40 million to Howard University, $30 million to Hampton University and millions to other universities. She stated that she wanted to donate more money. Why not UNM? And who should they choose to convince Ms. Scott to become the newest Lobo? Without hesitation, coaches Ray Birmingham and Danny Gonzales.

AS I AM sitting here watching a football game reading the ticker running across the bottom, wow news flash. So  and so signed a contract extension for a gazillion dollars I don’t really care. Do any of you? I think the only people that should care are his family his agent and his jeweler.

NASCAR’s Jimmie Johnson announces he’ll switch to IndyCar next year”.  Might as well, he’s been driving a slot car most of his career anyways.

IT’S NOT SURPRISING that Brian Urlacher came out with the stance that he has. He does hail from a section of NM that boasts as many cars with Texas plates as there are NM plates. I sense a run for political office. If so, he knows who butters his bread.

YOU WOULD THINK that with fewer sports to cover, the Journal could at least include a short story besides the score for all the professional teams. Once again the Milwaukee Brewers only get a score and box score.  It isn’t a space issue because other fluff pieces are included. It’s not just the Brewers, it’s most, if not all of the Wisconsin teams that get ignored.  The television stations are no better. One doesn’t list scores, one does it inconsistently and the third starts the scores over again after a commercial break, so that you might not see all the scores.  It’s a shame that all of us former Wisconsin residents can’t get decent coverage in New Mexico for or favorite teams.
