ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque police officers have found the five siblings who ran away from their father’s house Saturday night, according to a department spokesman.
Gilbert Gallegos said the children, ages 10-months-old to 11-years-old, were found with a family friend on Monday and appear to be healthy and safe. He said they had been caught in the middle of a custody dispute between family members.
“Detectives continue to investigate the situation and any allegations made by children that led to them leaving the home,” Gallegos wrote in an email. “APD detectives are also working with (Children, Youth and Families Department) to ensure the safety of the children.”
He said the 11-year-old had taken her sisters, ages 10-months-old, 3, 4, and 6, from an apartment on Western Skies SE belonging to their father or step-father on Saturday. He said at that time they left with clothing and some supplies and were suspected to be together.
