ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A pedestrian crash left a woman dead Tuesday morning in Northeast Albuquerque.

Rebecca Atkins, an Albuquerque police spokeswoman, said the crash occurred around 6 a.m. on Montgomery at the Interstate 25 exit. She said the pedestrian has not been identified.

Atkins said the driver told police they were exiting I-25 onto Montgomery when the light turned green but “vehicles ahead were stopped and had just started to travel forward.”

She said the driver said he attempted to brake and the wheels locked up which caused him to strike a woman sitting on the median.

The woman was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries.
