4 judges retiring from 2nd Judicial District Court

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A total of four judges are retiring from the 2nd Judicial District Court at the end of the year.

The last day on the bench for judges John Romero, Carl Butkus, Charles Brown and Cristina Jaramillo will be Dec. 31, according to a news release from the court.

The Journal previously reported that Brown and Jaramillo decided not to stand for retention this year and were leaving their seats.

Romero has served on the Children’s Court since 2003, the release said, and Butkus has presided over civil cases in the 2nd Judicial District Court since 2005.
