Santa Ana Pueblo and The Tamaya Enterprises Board of Directors will reopen Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The casino will now be open 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

“Since our closure on March 15, 2020, we have stood back and carefully studied this issue from all sides,” according to Melanie Martinez, The Tamaya Enterprises board of directors chairwoman. “The adverse impact of our closure extends beyond the Pueblo and has also affected other stakeholders such as employees, vendors, and guests. Our closure has allowed us the time to learn and implement very detailed safety plans.”

The casino will have a new look and requirements for the safety of its guests and staff. Thousands of plexiglass shields have been installed throughout the gaming floor and there is limited seating on table games. The entire gaming floor is non-smoking. A designated smoking area is located outside the casino.

Slots, table games, the Sportsbook and the hotel will be available to guests at limited capacity. Some spaces on the property remain closed including the Starlight Bowling Center, Juniper Steakhouse, Cantina Rio, Lounge 54, The Stage, the fitness center and pool. Amenities such as bar service, valet and shuttles have also been suspended, according to a news release. The Feast Buffet is no longer in operation and the space now features the Choices Food Court. The Blue Plate, one of five venues in the food court, is open.

Everyone who enters the property must be age 21 or older, be a New Mexico resident, and have a valid New Mexico ID. Patrons also must complete a single question survey and take a temperature screening. Face coverings are required while on property unless seated in a dining area. Masks will be provided at entry if needed. Guests must be registered as a Players Club member or register upon entry. For more information, visit santaanastar.com.

The property’s enhanced cleaning and sanitation guidelines include several hand washing stations throughout the property and slot machines and chairs being routinely disinfected. Guests can request additional cleanings at each slot machine with the “Clean My Machine” button that alerts a team member to disinfect the machine, according to the news release.

“We see the COVID crisis as something that will be with us for at least two years, so why not do it right,” CEO John Cirrincione said in the news release. “At this time, we are going to carefully progress with thoughtful consideration given to each step forward. We are ready, very well-prepared and excited to welcome our team members and guests back to the Star.”
