ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Do you dig dogs? Are you craving a cat companion?

Now’s your chance to get one – or, better yet, one of each – as Animal Humane New Mexico has cut its dog and cat adoption fees through Oct. 17 as part of its Dash to Adopt event.

“Throughout the week, adoption fees for pets over the age of six months will be reduced to $20 for dogs and $10 for cats,” the group said in news release.

The pets are available for adoption by appointment only at Animal Humane’s Main Campus, 615 Virginia SE, and its Westside Adoption Center, 10141 Coors NW. Go to AnimalHumaneNM.org/Adopt to schedule an appointment.

Animal Humane said the Dash to Adopt special is made possible by a $5,000 grant from The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, with the support of the Subaru Loves Pets Grant program and local company Garcia Subaru.

“During our adoption special, we expect many cats and dogs will find their forever families,” said Patrick Fisk, Animal Humane’s adoption and operations director. “We encourage the community to take advantage of this special and make an appointment online to meet your new best friend at Animal Humane.”

Also, on Friday, Oct. 16, Animal Humane is offering 25% off select items at its thrift shop, 4646 Menaul NE.
