Productions are continuing to ramp up in New Mexico.
According to the New Mexico State Film Office, an episode of “Them: Covenant” completed principal photography in Santa Fe.
The series, set in 1953, centers on a couple who move their family from North Carolina to Los Angeles. The family’s home becomes ground zero where malevolent forces both real and supernatural threaten to taunt, ravage and destroy them.
The episode was written by Little Marvin and directed by Craig William Macneill.
According to the Internet Movie Database, the series stars Christopher Heyerdahl, Shahadi Wright Joseph, Deborah Ayorinde, Ashley Thomas and Alison Pill.
The series is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios.
White Turtle Casting was in charge of the background talent.
“The production employed approximately 250 New Mexico crew members, eight New Mexico principal actors and 50 New Mexico extras,” according to the state Film Office.
The Film Office has created Back2One, a catch-all document for New Mexico film/TV production in a COVID-19 world.
The office worked with unions and guilds, film partners, and other experts and representatives from the industry.
According to some background actors, masks and shields were worn on set, and they were removed only to eat, drink and film.
“Practiced social distancing and holding was always open and spaced out,” Pamela Delaney said in a post. “The first day was the bumpiest with COVID testing, wardrobe, makeup and hair, but they got a handle on it really fast.”
