
SANTA FE — New Mexico reported 599 new coronavirus cases Tuesday and seven more deaths as infection levels continued to reach new highs.
The state’s seven-day rolling average of cases is now 598 a day — the highest it’s ever been and more than twice as high as the average Oct. 1.
The seven new fatalities push New Mexico’s total to 942 deaths since the pandemic arrived in March.
The recent deaths included adults ranging in age from their 40s to their 90s. Five of the seven had an underlying medical problem of some kind.
Common conditions include high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease.
Health officials said 205 coronavirus patients are in New Mexico hospitals, a 12% increase in the last day.
