Sports Speak Up! Both optimism, pessimism about UNM sports

I’M NOT SURE what excites me more: the return of Rocky Long as defensive coordinator for Lobo Football or the recent news of former Air Force basketball coach, Dave Pilipovich, as special assistant to Paul Weir. Both additions are great news for Lobo Athletics. Pilipovich is a total class act. I am, and have been, in Paul Weir’s corner since he came onboard, but this is a crucial year for him as head coach. With Pilipovich, I am more comfortable that Weir will have the ear of experienced professional at his side.

GOV. (LUJAN) GRISHAM is fortunate that she’s not the Governor of Alabama, Georgia or South Carolina if she had shut down college football in any of those states. … She can juggle high school athletics but she shouldn’t mess with UNM athletics. As a member of the local media is fond of saying: “Lobo fans have lost their minds.” Or a media person from out of state after witnessing a barnburner in the Pit: “These people are nuts.” Make sure our Governor hears your voices, Lobo fans.

I WOULD LOVE to see a comparison of current Dodger pitcher Clayton Kershaw with my all- time favorite pitcher, Sandy Koufax. Two Dodger greats; two different eras. I know in Koufax’s time pitchers often worked 9 innings . ERAs, World Series wins, Cy Young awards, etc.
