ABQ physical therapy practice expands to Bernalillo

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque-based Balanced Physical Therapy is expanding its practice with the opening of a second location in Bernalillo in early November.

The new location at 240 S. Camino Del Pueblo is set to open today, Monday.

Owner and physical therapist Jamel Esch opened the first location at 7849 Tramway NE alongside his wife, Stacey Esch, who also works at the practice as an occupational therapist.

“We wanted to ensure that every patient is treated with quality care and treated as family and we really started out as a family-centric practice,” Esch said.

He said when the Tramway location opened in 2015 it was just him and his wife, and they never set out to grow their business beyond the two of them.

“We were anticipating that it might be just us and we would never grow and we were fine with that,” Esch said.

In the years since opening, Esch said the practice has expanded to involve a full spectrum of physical therapy care and the practice now has clients across the city.

But it wasn’t just an expanding practice that led to the new location.

Esch said a combination of factors like a newly emptied physical therapy office and a friend looking for new opportunities all informed the decision to open the Bernalillo location.

While the Tramway location offers services from hand therapy to pelvic floor therapy to pediatric services, the Bernalillo location will start off with only a handful of therapists and fewer services.

“I’m just excited to be serving the Bernalillo community,” said Lawrence Herrera, a physical therapist at the Bernalillo clinic. “They don’t have many physical therapy options out there.”

Even though the clinic is opening during the coronavirus pandemic, Esch said the size of both of the clinics provides needed space for social distancing and other precautions.

“Now we have a bunch of rooms that we can bring patients into and we make sure that everybody’s sanitized and masked and all of the regulations and procedures that we would have to do to be safe,” he said.

Gemini Rosemont’s SF building for sale

Real estate investing company Gemini Rosemont Commercial Real Estate has announced it is listing its original headquarters building in Santa Fe for sale.

The near 20,000-square-foot-building, at 330 Garfield near the Railyard District, has served as the company’s headquarters since 1991, according to a news release announcing the sale.

The building’s sale is one of the final steps taken in the company’s exit from New Mexico.

In April 2019, the company announced that it would be relocating its headquarters to Los Angeles.

Gemini Rosemont CEO Ian Brownlow said the greater access to industry partners in the United States and abroad informed the relocation. “As our acquisition strategy shifted to acquiring Class A office product in tech-central coastal and gateway markets, it became increasingly important to be located in a major U.S. city,” he said in a statement.

Since the shift to Los Angeles, the company has relocated its Santa Fe employees to the new headquarters and there are plans for additional Santa Fe employees to transfer at the beginning of 2021, Brownlow said.

Gemini Rosemont has nearly 8 million square feet of commercial office space with an asset value of $1.6 billion.

NAI Maestas & Ward’s Carlos Garcia, Cole Flanagan and Joel Cumplido are representing the property, according to the release.

The Joint Chiropractic comes to Winrock

The Joint Chiropractic, a national chiropractic franchise, is expanding its Albuquerque presence with the opening of a new location in the Winrock Town Center.

This will be the fourth Albuquerque location for the company.

“We are excited to welcome them into the Winrock ecosystem,” said Scott Goodman, vice president of Goodman Realty Group. “They will be a great complement for our expanding medical presence.”

Businesses like New Mexico Orthopedics and Uptown Park Dental have moved into the Goodman Realty Group-owned shopping center in recent years.

Goodman did not say when The Joint Chiropractic was set to open, but he said it will be near Slapfish and Mark Pardo Salon Spa on the north side of the Winrock campus.

The Joint Chiropractic operates more than 550 locations nationwide.
