ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A loss prevention officer was shot at Cottonwood Mall while trying to stop a shoplifting suspect Monday evening, according to a spokesman for the Albuquerque Police Department.

Officer Daren DeAguero said the shooting happened at the Dillard’s department store at the mall, which is on Coors near Paseo Del Norte NW.

“He was taken to the hospital with a non-critical wound and is in stable condition,” DeAguero wrote in an email.

He did not say if anyone was arrested.
