NMDOH looking for bus passengers possibly exposed to virus

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Health officials are trying to track down any New Mexicans who were possibly exposed to COVID-19 on a bus ride through the state this week.

State Department of Health spokeswoman Marisa Maez said a passenger died from COVID-19 after taking the El Paso-Los Angeles Limousine Express Bus Route 284 from El Paso to Denver on Thursday.

Of the 32 passengers onboard, she said some were picked up in New Mexico but the department has little information on the other passengers and cannot contact them.

To prevent further spread, Maez said DOH is asking any passengers of that bus to self-quarantine by staying home and limiting contact with others until Dec. 3.

If symptoms of the virus occur, the DOH advises them to get tested immediately and if there are no symptoms, wait seven to 10 days from Nov. 19 to get tested.
