LET’S FACE IT, the Lobo football team was totally unprepared for the Air Force on Friday night. They just looked lost. The new UNM coaching staff is long on credentials and has had success elsewhere. Turning the “mean, nasty, aggressive and violent” into the lollipop kids on national TV is not acceptable. Get with it Danny and Rocky.

ROCKY’S MASK covered his face about as well as his defense covered Air Force’s fullback.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL starts soon. I have no idea if Kentucky and Duke have signed the entire McDonald’s HS All-American team as usual. It’s such a different game now due to the one-and-done trend. There is no more player name recognition in college basketball. I defy anyone to name a returning college player who doesn’t play for your favorite college team. Take your time, I’ll wait … .

THE STATE OF New Mexico is at least first in two things: The first state to identify as “mostly closed” and the first state that won’t allow its university’s athletic teams to practice and compete in their home venues. Of course the cities that are housing and accommodating the UNM and NMSU teams in Nevada, Texas and Arizona have been very cooperative. Thanks to our Governor, they will gladly take New Mexico’s money as an economic boost in these difficult times. This bizarre story that has gone national certainly can’t enhance New Mexico’s image.
