With a Dec. 30 deadline looming, the city and county of Santa Fe announced Monday an increase in the amount businesses can receive in grants funded by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.
Previously, businesses and nonprofits could receive a maximum $15,000 through the program, but they can now apply for grants of $25,000.
As of Saturday, the program had released around $500,000 of the $3.6 million in CARES Act funding it has to distribute across Santa Fe County. Local officials had said, prior to the rule change, that it was unclear if all the money would be spent by the Dec. 30 deadline.
It’s unclear if the deadline was behind the most recent increase.
Businesses that already received $15,000 can amend their application for an increase in funding.
