WE KNOW THAT all plans for athletics are subject to future change and it is possible there will be no athletics this academic year. I believe California is taking the best approach with the hope that they will be able to salvage some kind of seasons. Using the rationale that the regular season serves more students than the postseason, the CIF announced that all regional and state championships are cancelled for this year. This will allow the regular season — if held — to be longer.

WILLIE NELSON’S Grammy Hall of Fame tune “On the Road Again” could become the theme song for the UNM men’s and women’s basketball teams. There will be no games in the Pit this season as both teams are just now embarking on a months-long odyssey. Will they stay based out of Texas? Preposterous, as a big advantage goes to the Lobos’ opponents. This governor generated fiasco is also a sizable setback for the entirety of UNM Athletics from both a financial and image standpoint. Out of (state), out of mind.

MR. SCARBOROUGH: My fondest memory of Kelvin was the Georgetown game in 1984. After a break, Georgetown found themselves with 6 players in a huddle on the court. I guess he figured he could hide because of his height! So sorry to hear of his passing.

DAVID SAID exactly what has been on my mind for weeks regarding UNM football. All these naysayers that write in are so ignorant and don’t consider the toll that Covid has done to all, especially UNM football and soon basketball.

AFTER UNM (handcuffed) Coach Davie, the players for the last two years didn’t have any accountability. There are no magic wands. You are “embarrassed”? Look at Penn State or Michigan. Neither of those programs have 1% of the adversity UNM has. Support the team. Let the coach do what he needs to do. I have watched and supported Lobo Football since 1962. I have no intention of stopping until I am dead. Go Lobos!
