New Mexico on Sunday reported its lowest number of new COVID-19 cases and deaths since mid-November.
Hospitalizations remain high, though, as 919 people were in hospitals with the disease, according to a Sunday afternoon update.
The Governor’s Office said in the news release that the state had 1,250 new cases and 11 deaths. Those are the lowest numbers the state has reported in weeks. On Nov. 14, the state reported 1,180 cases and 10 deaths. The state reported 1,033 cases and seven deaths on Nov. 15, but those were only partial totals.
The total number of deaths in New Mexico is now 1,749. The people whose deaths were reported Sunday were:
⋄ Three men, two in their 60s and one in his 40s, from Bernalillo County. The men in their 60s were hospitalized and had underlying health conditions.
⋄ A man in his 70s from Doña Ana County who was hospitalized.
⋄ A man in his 70s from Luna County who was hospitalized.
⋄ A woman in her 60s from McKinley County who was hospitalized.
⋄ A woman in her 70s from Otero County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
⋄ A man in his 20s from Rio Arriba County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
⋄ A man in his 70s from San Juan County who was hospitalized.
⋄ A man in his 50s from Taos County who was hospitalized.
⋄ A woman in her 40s from Valencia County who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
Bernalillo County led the state in new cases, with 391, 99 of which came from the 87121 ZIP code, according to the Governor’s Office. San Juan County reported 124, Doña Ana County had 95, Chaves County had 68, and Santa Fe County had 64.
There were also 41 new cases among state inmates at six prison facilities.
The state has also found at least one case of COVID-19 among residents and staff at 142 long-term care facilities in the past 28 days, according to the Governor’s Office.
New Mexico now has a total of 108,088 cases, with 37,041 recoveries.
