The state announced an additional 1,803 cases of COVID-19 and 24 deaths from the virus Saturday afternoon.

That brings the statewide total to 118,358 cases and 1,913 deaths related to the virus. The rolling average is 1,662 cases and 26 deaths a day.

Jodi McGinnis Porter, a Governor’s Office spokeswoman, said six of the 24 people who died were from Bernalillo County and six were from Doña Ana County.

The deceased ranged in age from their 40s to the 90s, and all but seven had underlying conditions.

Most of the new cases were from Bernalillo County, with 573. Lea County had 181, San Juan County had 179, and Sandoval County had 135.

Twenty-three cases were reported among inmates at the Lea County Correctional Facility.

McGinnis Porter said that there were 907 people hospitalized with the virus across New Mexico and that 43,091 COVID-19 cases have been designated as recovered by the New Mexico Department of Health.
