ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Fire crews fought a blaze Tuesday evening at a Dollar General in Northwest Albuquerque.
Albuquerque Fire Rescue Lt. Tim Smith said the store was evacuated soon after the fire was sparked and nobody was injured.
He said firefighters responded around 6 p.m. to the Dollar General on Second near Interstate 40.
“An employee from the store had called 911 with reports of a fire inside the store,” Smith said.
An earlier release from AFR said a person “reportedly” started the fire intentionally in the clothing section and the store was evacuated.
Smith said firefighters had to cut through four layers of roof to climb inside and put out the blaze.
“The contents of the store (were) a total loss,” he said. “The fire is under investigation at this time.”
