ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Officers were digging around a West Side home on Thursday afternoon looking for a body that may have been buried in the backyard.

Gilbert Gallegos, an Albuquerque police spokesman, said the search at a home on Everitt NW, near Atrisco and Ladera, was related to a missing persons case and the homicide unit was not involved.

“They were looking for a transient who may have been buried, but have not discovered anything. Still searching,” he said.

Gallegos gave no other details.

Crime scene investigators could be seen using a backhoe to dig into the earth in the backyard of a house in the neighborhood.
