APS Bus Loses Rear Axle

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque Public Schools spokesman Rigo Chavez tells ABQJournal.com that there were no children on the bus this morning when its rear axle fell off. The bus had just dropped off a group of school children at Zia Elementary and was headed back to a parking lot owned by Beal company, which is one of 16 contractors APS uses for buses.

ABQJournal.com hasn’t yet heard back from Beal.

Lead Avenue is closed at Solano Drive after an empty Albuquerque Public Schools bus lost its rear axle, blocking the roadway.
