The state House today unanimously passed legislation that expands liability protections to manufacturers and suppliers at the southern New Mexico spaceport.
The legislation is considered key to attracting commercial aerospace companies to relocate to the spaceport, where Virgin Galactic is the primary tenant.
Under House Bill 308, the existing liability waiver that protects Virgin Galactic or other operators from some lawsuits filed by passengers is extended to manufacturers or suppliers.
The Senate has already passed an identical bill. But because the same bill must pass both the House and Senate before it goes to the governor, the bills have a few more steps before they would be ready for final legislative approval.
