N.M. Homeland Security chief OK’d

SANTA FE (AP) — New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez’s top homeland security official has won confirmation by the Senate.

Gregory Myers was unanimously confirmed Monday as secretary of the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

He was appointed to the post last April to replace Michael Duvall, who resigned to take a job at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Myers is a retired Air Force colonel, and became the department’s deputy secretary in October 2011.
