Wrong-Way Driver Back in Custody

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Danielle Best, the former airman whose DWI wrong-way drive on the interstate on Feb. 21, 2007, caused significant injuries to Michael Hauser is back in custody after a dispute with court personnel.

Her attorney told District Judge Bob Schwartz in court Thursday that Best hadn’t violated any conditions of release and that she was remanded to custody because of a personality dispute and that she needs to be out of custody to prepare for sentencing.

Best agreed to a potential 18-month term of prison and community service when she pleaded guiltyto great bodily injury by vehicle in February.

Schwartz said there should be hearing to decide if there was a violation of her conditions of release and said he would schedule one.
