Caregiver course begins Thursday

The Alzheimer’s Association, New Mexico chapter, will offer a free, seven-week course for caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias from 10 a.m.-noon each Thursday, beginning March 7.

Cancer clinic offers free help

Cancer Services of New Mexico offers a free clinic on legal, insurance and paperwork assistance the first and third Thursday of each month. Expert volunteers are available. This Thursday’s clinic will start at 6 p.m.

Family retreat for cancer patients

Cancer Services of New Mexico will sponsor a Spring 2013 Family Cancer Retreat from May 3-5 at the Marriott Pyramid North hotel, 5151 San Francisco NE.

The free program for adult cancer patients, survivors and their families will feature educational sessions about new cancer treatments, genetic testing, side effects, pain management and hospice and insurance.
