On January 13, 2010, APD Detective Brett Lampiris-Tremba fatally shot Iraq war veteran Kenneth Ellis III in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven at Eubank and Constitution. The shooting spawned a contentious wrongful death lawsuit that resulted in a $10.3 million judgment against the city, one of the largest in its history. An appeal of the ruling is pending in District Court.

The following images were taken as the case unfolded, from the scene of the shooting, to the day District Judge Shannon Bacon announced the judgement.
