What’s up, Winrock?

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — As anyone driving down Interstate 40 near Uptown has probably noticed, there’s a 16-screen movie theater slowly coming to life at Winrock Town Center.

In fact, the theater currently under construction is expected to open in November.

But what other shopping, dining and entertainment options can we expect as part of Winrock’s ongoing redevelopment?

It’s apparently still too soon to say.

Pegasus Retail President Anthony Johnson, the project’s broker, told me this week that he’s currently negotiating nine leases and is working on letters of intent for 14 more potential tenants.

He just can’t name names yet.

“A lot of those are getting very close to execution,” he said, “but they’re not signed.”

What Johnson did say is that seven from that list of 23 stores and restaurants would be new to the Albuquerque market if they do seal the deal.

And he’s more than a little excited about the future.

“I promise that Winrock will be the coolest shopping, living, work experience in the state, if not the Southwest,” he said. “It’s going to be phenomenal.”
