ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Head-on collision closes off-ramp from southbound I-25 to eastbound Gibson.
8:57am UPDATE: Traffic improving after crashes this morning on eastbound Interstate 40 east of Coors and on westbound Gibson west of Interstate 25, but the southbound off-ramp on I-25 to eastbound Gibson remains closed while police continue to investigate this morning's fatal head-on collision, according to 770 KKOB Radio's latest traffic report.
8:35am UPDATE: Southbound Interstate 25 remains open, but traffic is slow following this morning's fatal head-on collision between a small car and a tanker trunk at I-25 and Gibson.
The driver of the small car died in the accident, while the tanker truck driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Albuquerque Police Department spokesman John Walsh told 770 KKOB Radio.
8:30am UPDATE: Police are now saying there is a fatality from this morning's head-on crash at southbound Interstate 25's off ramp to eastbound Gibson, according to 770 KKOB Radio traffic reporter Helen Wheels.
Police at this hour are dealing with a head-on collision that occurred on the off-ramp from southbound Interstate 25 to eastbound Gibson, so drivers are urged to find a way around that area, 770 KKOB Radio's traffic reporter Helen Wheels is reporting.
Also bedeviling traffic on I-25 this mornings are crashes in the northbound lanes at Lomas and another at the Sunport exit, according to Wheels, who reports a secondary crash at westbound Gibson near I-25 and a massive array of police and emergency vehicles on hand.
Another crash on eastbound Interstate 40 east of Coors Boulevard has traffic backed up all the way to Unser, KKOB is reporting.
