Calif. man killed in Clovis crash

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A collision between a silver-colored 2003 Ford Mustang and a semi-tractor trailer Saturday night in Clovis resulted in the death of the Mustang’s driver, the Clovis News Journal reported.

The accident occurred around 11:30 p.m. just south of the intersection of Norris Street and Mabry Drive in Clovis, and witnesses told police that the Mustang was traveling south on Norris at a high rate of speed and the semi was going west on Mabry with the right of way at a green traffic light, the News Journal said.

The preliminary investigation shows that the Mustang failed to stop for the red light, the paper reported.

The Mustang’s driver was identified as Enrique Tomas Zuniga, a dairy farm worker from California, who was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, the News Journal said.

The semi driver was unhurt in the crash but was taken to Plains Regional Medical Center for a blood draw, according to the News Journal.

Police found unopened cans of beer and drug paraphernalia in the Mustang, police said in a news release.
