Laurence Fishburne is the latest star to have a project to be filmed in New Mexico.
The Academy Award-nominated actor will star in the sci-fi thriller, “The Signal.”
It tells the story of three college freshmen who disappear under mysterious circumstances while tracking a menacing computer hacker through the Southwest.
According to the film office, the production will begin filming mid-May through the end of June.
Locations include Albuquerque, Los Lunas and Taos.
It will also employ approximately 65 New Mexico crew members and more than 35 New Mexico background and principal talent, the film office says.
The film also stars Brenton Thwaites, Olivia Cooke, Beau Knapp, Sarah Clarke, Lin Shaye and Robert Longstreet.
Fishburne has been seen in “The Matrix” franchise as well as “Mystic River,” “21” and “What’s Love Go To Do With It.”
The film will be directed by Will Eubank and produced by Brian Kavanaug-Jones and Tyler Davidson.
