Local man sentenced on child porn guilty plea

A Rio Rancho man was sentenced on Tuesday for receiving child pornography, according to a U.S. Attorney's Office news release.

Richard D. Crisman, 28, of Rio Rancho, was sentenced to eight years in federal prison and ordered to pay $15,000. He was also sentenced to 25 years of supervised release and will be required to register as a sex offender after his prison sentence.

In February 2012, Chrisman pleaded guilty to one of his six charges, receipt of child pornography via the Internet.

He was also charged with three counts of possession of child pornography, but entered into a plea agreement and admitted to downloading child pornography in exchange for most of the charges being dropped.

Investigators found 14,000 images and 40 videos of child pornography on his computer, according information in the agreement.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth J. Gonzales said Crisman was arrested as part of Operation Predator, an investigative effort by state and local law enforcement affiliates of the New Mexico Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The case against Crisman was investigated by the Rio Rancho Police Department, the New Mexico State Police, U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, the FBI and the 13th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
