ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Facing another hot, dry summer after years of drought, parishioners and farmers gathered Saturday in the South Valley to bless an acequia and pray for the rain they hope will fill it.
Dozens came together for the annual “San Ysidro y Santa Maria de la Cabeza” celebration, which aims prayers at the Virgin Mary and the saint of farming. The blessed acequia runs through the Sanchez Farm in the South Valley.
