You knew you were at the ABQ Wine Fest, with wines from 24 area vineyards Saturday and Sunday afternoon, if you saw:

A. A couple walking around on the sunny grounds of Balloon Fiesta Park with pretzels strung on hand-made necklaces, to handily nibble on between sampling or buying glasses of whites and reds, because the pretzels dry and clear the palate.

B. Two friends trying some of Wines of the San Juan’s selections, including a favorite, “Girls are Meaner,” a popular white wine that inspired a T-shirt, to complement a new zinfandel the Turley, N.M., vineyard introduced this year called “Taxicab.”

C. Hundreds of wine-tasters walking around with empty, soiled wine glasses and green wristbands, checking out wine and its accoutrements: goat cheese, honey soaps, lavender, knives, jewelry and funnel cakes.

D. A man leaving with a wine glass in his back pocket, carrying half a case of “La Novia” from Ponderosa Valley Winery (six bottles for $105) sporting a T-shirt that says, “At my age I need GLASSES.”

Answer: All of the above.
