ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Lifeguard helicopter on scene of multicar crash involving truck.
11:55am UPDATE: A man and his two young sons were hospitalized after their car was hit by a pickup truck at an Interstate 25 onramp at U.S. 550 in Bernalillo around 8 a.m., KRQE News 13 is reporting.
Sandoval County sheriff's deputies told News 13 that the pickup hit the car on the passenger side, shoving the side of the car in about 2 feet, pinning the boys inside the car.
The younger boy, age 6, who had been sitting in the front passenger seat, was rushed to the hospital in serious condition, KRQE reported.
His 8-year-old brother and father also were taken to the hospital with possible internal injuries, the station said.
Bernalillo police are investigating what caused the accident and to see whether anyone was at fault.
A multicar crash with injuries is being reported by 770 KKOB Radio's Helen Wheels on northbound Interstate 25 at U.S. 550 in Bernalillo.
And a secondary crash has just been reported, KKOB is reporting.
A Lifeguard helicopter is on scene, but it is unknown who has been hurt and the extent of the injuries.
Also unknown is what caused the crash, according to KKOB.
Vehicles trying to get on northbound I-25 is backed up all the way to N.M. 313, but southbound traffic seems to moving normally, KKOB reported.
Northbound drivers are urged to take N.M. 313 as an alternate route.
There's another crash reported this morning on eastbound Paseo del Norte just east of Coors that's also backing up traffic, according to KKOB's Wheels.
No injuries have been reported, however.
