N.M. expecting record, near-record heat

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Among New Mexico cities that could tie or beat record heat today are Farmington, Gallup, Los Alamos, Raton, Clayton and Tucumcari, according to a National Weather Service chart.

Albuquerque, which didn’t quite hit triple digits at the Albuquerque International Sunport Monday but reported 100 or more highs in spots around the metro area, is expected to match its record high of 101 at the Sunport set in 1981, and could hit 103 elsewhere in the metro area.

According to Albuquerque’s seven-day forecast, it’s only going to get slightly cooler on Wednesday with a forecast high of 101, then 99 on Thursday and 98 on Friday, with a slight (10 percent) chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday night and Friday night.
