Tests available for HIV, STDs

The New Mexico Department of Health offers free testing for HIV and sexually transmitted diseases at about 80 clinics across the state.

High-risk groups include gay and bysexual men, people with multiple sexual partners, injection drug users and former prison inmates.

To find a testing site, visit nmhivguide.org and type your city or county into the search line.

Cancer Retreat planned Sept. 6-8

Cancer Services of New Mexico is accepting applications for its Family Cancer Retreat from Sept. 6-8 at the Marriott Albuquerque Pyramid, 5151 San Francisco Road NE.

The free program provides adult cancer patients, survivors and loved ones with sessions on treatment options, navigating the health care system, palliative care, nutrition and other topics.

New flu shot made without eggs

A new flu vaccine made without eggs is now an option for adults with severe allergies.

The new Flublok vaccine, made with cell technology, was licensed in January by Protein Sciences Corp.

The new vaccine is licensed only for adults ages 18 to 49.
