Rio Ranchoan killed in motorcycle wreck

A 41-year-old man died after he wrecked his motorcycle while speeding in the Walmart parking lot early Friday morning.

Rio Rancho Police were called to the scene about 12:30 a.m., according to dispatch logs.

Police Sgt. Nicholas Onken said the 41-year-old Rio Rancho man, whose name is expected to be released Monday, was traveling at a high speed for unknown reasons when he hit a curb and became airborne. He was not wearing a helmet.

The man suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to University of New Mexico Hospital, where he died of his injuries, Onken said.
