You’ll be paying more to see Lobo men’s hoops in 2013-14

Last season, the University of New Mexico basketball program packed The Pit to the tune of 15,022 fans per game, including complete sellouts in six of the final 10 games.

UNM athletics has announced season ticket prices for the upcoming 2013-14 schedule, and they’ve gone up $17, or $1 per ticket.

That $1 surcharge per ticket has been added that specifically goes to payment on UNM’s debt service for The Pit, while all single-game tickets will have a $2 surcharge for UNM’s debt service.

UNM is one of three NCAA teams that has won four conference titles in the last five years, along with Gonzaga and Kansas, and attempting to be the first Mountain West team to win back-to-back-to-back regular season and tournament titles.

The 2013-14 schedule has not officially been released, although some home opponents are known. Big South champion Charleston Southern will visit The Pit in November, and December will see NCAA teams New Mexico State and Cincinnati, along with new Division I program Grand Canyon, coached by former Phoenix Suns star Dan Majerle.

UNM will play nine conference games in The Pit; those dates and times have yet to be announced.

For faculty and staff, season tickets can be purchased for as low as $144.50 per seat.

The surcharge will go strictly to pay off the bill for debt service on The Pit from its recent $60 million renovation.
