‘Downton Abbey’ star filming thriller in N.M.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico is getting a thrilling guest — a dramatic thriller called “The Guest.”

The New Mexico Film Office announced the production of Snoot Entertainment’s “The Guest,” which stars Dan Stevens.

The film is about a family who take in a houseguest who claims to have been friends with their deceased eldest son, but who in fact harbors a sinister past and violent agenda.

Production started mid-July and will continue through the end of August in Moriarty, Edgewood and Estancia.

The production will employ approximately 75 New Mexico crew members and 85 principals and background talent, according to the film office.

“The Guest” reunites the creative team behind Lionsgate’s upcoming horror film “You’re Next,” with Adam Wingard directing, Simon Barrett writing, and Keith Calder and Jess Wu producing.

Stevens appeared in “Downton Abbey” where he played Matthew Crawley.

According to the Internet Movie Database, Maika Monroe, Brendan Meyer, Brenden Wedner and Tabatha Shaun are also signed onto the film.
