Cancer free? Study needs you

The American Cancer Society is seeking Albuquerque residents ages 30-65 who have never been diagnosed with cancer for a national study to help researchers understand how environmental, lifestyle and genetic factors may cause or prevent cancer.

Legal clinic helps cancer patients

Cancer Services of New Mexico offers a free clinic on legal, insurance and paperwork assistance the first and third Thursday of each month.

Expert volunteers are available. This Thursday’s clinic will start at 6 p.m. To register, call Stephanie Michnovicz at 999-9764 or toll-free, 888-668-2766.

Family retreat taking applications

Cancer Services of New Mexico is accepting applications for its Family Cancer Retreat from Sept. 6-8 at the Marriott Albuquerque Pyramid, 5151 San Francisco Road NE.

The free program provides adult cancer patients, survivors and loved ones with sessions on treatment options, navigating the health care system, family communications, palliative care, nutrition and other topics.

Holistic health fair is Saturday

A variety of holistic health practitioners will offer workshops and discussions at The Albuquerque Experiential Holistic Health Fair, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at Convivium Co-Working, 5924 Anaheim NE.
