Sparks, Mercury To Play in Albuquerque

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Sparks and the Phoenix Mercury will play a WNBA exhibition May 28 at the Pit.

The first WNBA preseason game in Albuquerque since 2006 is scheduled to feature five Olympic medalists: DeLisha Milton-Jones, Candace Parker and Tina Thompson of the Sparks, plus Diana Taurasi and Penny Taylor of the Mercury.

Thompson is the all-time leading scorer in WNBA history (6,413 career points), while Sparks’ point guard Ticha Penicheiro holds league records for assists (2,398) and steals (728).
