Detectives have released the names of three people recently slain in separate incidents around Albuquerque but withheld the identities of those killed in a double shooting on Saturday.
Albuquerque police spokesman Gilbert Gallegos identified Matthew Werth, 34, Jahnte Iule, 18, and Mike Guerra, 63, as three of the six people killed since Jan. 18.
He said they are still trying to notify relatives of a woman killed Jan. 18 on Rhode Island NE, and the names of two people fatally shot on Saturday at Eubank and Interstate 40 are “not yet releasable.”
Gallegos did not say why the names could not be released, and he did not respond to requests for more details on that shooting.
None of the cases have had an arrest reported, and no further details have been given.
On the night of Jan. 20, officers responded to reports of an unconscious man in the parking lot of a gas station at East Central and Western Skies SE. Werth was pronounced dead at the scene and police determined the death was a homicide.
Then, on Sunday, police responded to a shooting at a home in the 6700 block of Ranchitos NE. Officers found Iule wounded at the house, and he was taken to the hospital, where he died.
On Monday morning, police were dispatched to a shooting in the 5500 block of Silver SE, near Madeira and Central. Officers found Guerra with “trauma to his chest.” He died at a hospital.
