Victim in Friday hotel homicide identified

Officers investigate after a woman was found with a chest wound in the parking lot of a hotel near Eubank and Interstate 40 on Friday. Police on Monday identified the woman as Jessica Benavidez, 42. (Jim Thompson/Albuquerque Journal)

The Albuquerque Police Department identified the victim in a recent homicide at an Albuquerque hotel as 42-year-old Jessica Benavidez.

Police responded to the Amberly Suites near Eubank and Interstate 40 on Friday after a woman went to the front of the hotel “needing help.” Officers found Benavidez on the ground in the parking lot with a chest wound and took her to a hospital, where she died.

No other information about the homicide has been released.
