New Mexico reported 23 additional deaths related to COVID-19 on Friday, a toll that included a man in his 30s from Chaves County and a Cibola County woman over 100 years old who lived at the Good Samaritan Society in Grants.
Cases continued a downward trend, with 407 positive tests reported. The counties with the most cases were the two most populated. There were 127 new cases confirmed in Bernalillo County and 80 in Doña Ana County, according to the Department of Health.
For the past week, the state has averaged 419 cases and 17.71 deaths per day, according to a Journal analysis.
The deaths reported Friday included 12 men and 11 women. Seven of the dead were from Bernalillo County, ranging in age from a woman in her 40s to a man in his 90s.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 3,502 COVID-related deaths in New Mexico, according to the health department.
There were 365 people in New Mexico hospitals due to COVID-19 as of Friday.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health vaccine dashboard updated on Friday showed that more than 394,000 doses of vaccine had been administered, not counting the 125,000 doses that federal agencies have received.
About 117,000 people have received two doses of vaccine and 277,000 people have had one shot, according to the dashboard.
