ISLETA LAKES: Trout fishing is good on both SUNRISE and TURTLE lakes. Anglers are using the following baits with very good results: salmon eggs, worms, yellow, salmon peach and corn PowerBaits. SANDIA LAKES: Sandia Lakes will be receiving a full load of rainbow trout today. Anglers have been reporting excellent catch rates for trout ranging from 10 to 15 inches, with several anglers reporting limits including 16-inch-plus fish. Bait preferences have been changing frequently, but PowerBaits and fly/casting bobber rigs have reported success lately. Check with the lake store for the latest in bait preferences: 505-771-5190. NOTES from GAME & FISH: The fishing in the METRO DRAINAGES is reported as fair, with most methods catching fish. The drainages were stocked last week: Albuquerque with 303 triploid rainbow trout; Belen with 202; Bernalillo with 80; Corrales with 118, and Peralta with 250.
The stretch of the CHAMA RIVER downstream of the village of Chama into El Vado reservoir is slowing down. The release out of El Vado is murky but fishable. The stretch below Abiquiú Dam is fishing good and the water clarity is getting better.
Trout fishing at LAKE FARMINGTON is reported as fair using PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms. Best success is reported close to the dam. The lake was stocked with 2,999 rainbow trout last week.
At LAKE ROBERTS, trout fishing is reported as slow with worms and PowerBait.
The RIO GRANDE from Pilar to Cochiti Lake was stocked with 3,950 triploid rainbow trout last week.
In lower sections of the PECOS RIVER, fish the afternoon hours, especially while the sun is on the water.
At BILL EVANS LAKE, fishing for trout is reported as fair, with most methods working.
Fishing at CABALLO LAKE is reported as slow.
