ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico women’s basketball team will get a key player back for Wednesday’s game at Colorado State.
Junior forward Jourdan Erskine, who missed the past six games with a stress fracture of her left foot, was cleared to return Monday. Erskine will be eased back into the Lobos’ player rotation and will come off the bench Wednesday, Lobo coach Yvonne Sanchez said.
“Jourdan helps us in a lot of areas, especially defense and rebounding,” Sanchez said. “This is the best news we’ve had in a while.”
Erskine started UNM’s first 12 games this season, averaging 5.8 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists. Her presence will benefit a Lobo squad that had just seven scholarship players in uniform for Saturday’s loss to UNLV.
