ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — To some Lobo fans, no fans of the recent renovation, the Pit ain’t what it used to be.
Thursday night, writes Dennis Dodd of CBSSports.com, the Pit was exactly what it used to be.
Speaking as one who was present at Thursday’s NCAA Tournament evening session, Dodd got it right. So did Albuquerque, which — with the Lobos done for the day — came out in force to watch Baylor-South Dakota State and Colorado-UNLV.
The Buffaloes were well-represented in the crowd of 11,839, the Bears pretty well, the Rebels and the Jackrabbits less so. But it was left to the locals to show up and make this an event, and that’s what they did.
The Pit, post-renovation, remains a terrific place to watch college basketball.
