The state Department of Health reported 306 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the seven-day average to the lowest it’s been since early October.

It also reported 18 additional deaths from the virus, bringing the state’s total death toll to 3,787.

Among the virus cases reported on Friday, one third – 102 cases – were from Bernalillo County. Doña Ana County reported 55 new cases, Sandoval County reported 22 cases and the remaining counties reported fewer than 20 cases each. One new COVID case was reported at the state-run Lea County Correctional Facility, which experienced an outbreak last week. Two new cases were reported at the state-run Southern New Mexico Correctional Facility in Doña Ana County.

There have now been a total of 186,460 cases of COVID reported in the state.

Among those who died are a Bernalillo County man in his 40s who was hospitalized, but wasn’t reported as having underlying conditions; a San Juan County man in his 40s who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions; and a Luna County woman in her 50s who was hospitalized and had underlying conditions. The remainder were 60 and older.

The state reports that 183 people are hospitalized for the virus and 153,376 people are designated as having recovered.
