11-year-old boy killed in Valencia County

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — An 11-year-old boy was killed in the front yard of a property Saturday afternoon in a neighborhood west of Los Lunas, according to the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. Joseph Rowland, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, would not say how the boy died but called it a “violent homicide.”

He said deputies were dispatched around 3 p.m. to the homicide at a property on Carmel Road in the Monterey Park District, west of the Manzano Expressway.

Rowland said there are no suspects in custody, and he gave no other details.
