NM reports 160 cases, two deaths

New Mexico reported two deaths and 160 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, dropping the state’s seven-day average below 200 cases a day.

Those who died were a Bernalillo County man in his 60s and a Sandoval County man in his 50s. The state has recorded 3,852 COVID-related deaths since the start of the pandemic, according to a state Department of Health news release.

Of the cases reported Sunday, Bernalillo County had the most, with 45. Doña Ana County had 29, and Sandoval County had 11. No other county had more than 10 new cases.

New Mexico for the past week has averaged 198 new cases and six deaths per day, according to a Journal analysis.

On Sunday, 118 people were hospitalized with COVID throughout the state, according to the Health Department.

The state has reported 188,311 COVID cases and 166,437 reported recoveries.
